A22- Goodbye

Goodbye to all of the people who have read my blog posts from around the world. Hopefully I will continue to post some more things over the months.
Thank You,
Ethan

A21– Mother’s Day

First things First, I’d like to say Happy Mother’s Day to my awesome mom and all the other mom’s across the world. Here’s a Haiku for you mom!
Mothers Day is Here
It’s the best time of the year
I love Mothers Day

A20– Camp Greenville

My camp experience was awesome! The whole thing was based around “Courage, Compassion, and Responsibility”. So here’s my story.
It all started out when I had to wake up at 5:00 in the morning to get to school at 6:00. I ate breakfast, grabbed my bags and zoomed out the door. I arrived at school at 5:30, met my friends, loaded my stuff under the bus and set off for a five hour trip to YMCA Camp Greenville. The bus ride was really long but with the help of a Nintendo DS and an IPod Touch I was alright. When we got there around 11:00, we were all starved so we settled into our cabins and rushed to lunch. After lunch we had our group’s first activity: Moving Mountains. We met our tour guide and started a long walk down a really big hill. Once we got to the bottom we were all baffled by the sight that we saw. It was a waterfall ten feet tall at the least and if you think that is cool, the tour guide even let us go under the waterfall two at a time.
If I tried to tell you the happened on the whole trip you would be bored to death so I’ll just tell some highlights from the rest of the trip.
My First highlight is from the first night. We had a square dance and it was awesome! My next highlight from the trip is from the second day when we got to go to Pretty Place. Pretty Place is this awesome chapel with a great view of the Appalachian Mountains. Another cool thing about Pretty Place is that it overlooks two states North Carolina, and South Carolina. I liked Pretty Place so much that my friends Spencer, Ansen, Jyece, Chandler, and I decided to get up at 5:00 AM the next morning and go watch the sun rise there. It was beautiful and I got some great pics.
Since the whole trip was based about Courage, Compassion, and Responsibility I am going to tell you some of the times at camp I showed these. One time I showed courage was when I danced with people I had never met. One time I showed compassion was when someone in our group fell down and got hurt on the hike I helped them up and walked with them on the hike back up. And finally one time I showed responsibility was when I was allowed to go back to my cabin unsupervised I did not goof off and did what I was supposed to.
That’s all for now,
Ethan

A19- Dear Mr.President

Dear Mr.President,
My name is Ethan and I am a fifth grader going to Peeler Open School For The Performing Arts in Greensboro, NC. Next year I will be attending Brown Summit Middle School for Advanced Acedemics. At the beginning of the year our teacher Mrs.Buckmaster told us that there was a law that was suggested that would determine the pay of teachers by the scores their students got on tests. I do not agree with this pending law because it might cause the teachers and children to become untruthful.
Say a teacher knows that some of his/her kids will not pass the test they might cheat by telling some of the kids the answers to the test so they will not be fired Also some of the kids might be untruthful so their teacher will not be fired. That’s all for now!
Sincerely,
Ethan

A18– Save the Elephants

I think that the killing of elephants is wrong. I think that it is wrong because all creatures should be treated fairly. What if someone or something killed you or your family just to sell one part of your body? If they were still going to get the ivory it would be way more humane to get the ivory from elephants that have died from natural causes. I also think it is inhumane to kill any creature that has not harmed you.
In the 1980’s more than a million elephants got killed for their ivory! That a lot! Also every day more than One Hundred elephants are killed! That’s more than 37,000 a year! It’s your dissension: Save the Elephants, or Kill the Elephants.

A17– 10 People I Admire

Here are 10 people that I admire:

1:My Mom and Dad for being awesome and caring
2:My Step dad because he is nice and cares for me
3:My Brother and Sister
4:My Grandma and Grandpa for being loving and caring
5:Ansen, Spencer, and Chandler for being good friends
6:All of my Family for being nice
7:Mrs.B and Mrs.Gunning for being the best teachers ever!
8:Barack Obama for running this country
9: My Dad’s Girlfriend for being creative and fun
10:Mrs.Anderson my AL teacher for making it easier to learn difficult subjects

A16– South Africa Friends

Dear 5th Graders,
South Africa looks awesome! I would way rather go to the camp you guys went to than go to Camp Greenville. You are so lucky to be able to rock climb and go on the high rope courses! I would love it if we were able to do that!
Do the 5th graders go to the same camp every year? Last year we went to Camp Don Lee and this year we are going to Camp Greenville. Do you get to pick the people that are in your cabins? We get to write down four people that we would like to be in our cabin and we are guaranteed at least one person we requested in our cabin. That’s all for now.
Sincerely,
Ethan

A14– That’s Not Fair!

One time something was not fair was when my grandma moved she was not allowed to have pets in the place she was renting. She was sad because she was really attached to her dog but she was forced to give her dog away. The good thing was that her dog went to a good family. I don’t think it was fair because she was really attached to her dog.
Another thing that was not fair was when I took Karate. The thing that was unfair was that after two whole weeks of Karate my instructor would not let me test for a yellow belt. While everybody else was leveling up I was still a white belt. It made me feel bad when I could not test because I felt everyone was better than me.

A13– My New Year’s Resolution

My new year’s resolutiond are to Number One: to get better at guitar. Number Two: to clean up my room. Finally Number Three: to get better at skateboarding. The reason I want to get better at guitar is because I am asking for an electric guitar for Christmas and all you can do is get better. The reason I want to clean my room is because it needs a good cleaning and I have kept putting it aside and have not done it in a long time. Lastly the reason I want to get better at skateboarding is because I have Element skateboard and I have not been skating lately.

A12– My Christmas

One Christmas I vividly remember is when I got the Nintindo Gamecube and two games for it the year it came out. Ever since it had come out I had wanted one. It came with a Harry Potter video game and a Hulk video game. I was so stoked when I got it that I played it for almost two days strait. In the Harry Potter game you have to learn  spells and defeat Voldemort. In the Hulk game you get to roam around, pick up cars and other objects, and crush things. The point of the game is to beat all of the levels and then capture the professer and make him change you back into human form. That was an awsome Christmas that I will never forget.

A11– My Wishlist

For Christmas I want a lot of things but for this blog post I am concentrating on my little sister Neko. She really wants books for Christmas so I am thinking about getting her some educational books. She also has been really wanting a Handy Manny building set. The reason I chose my little sister is because she is really giving and I think she deserves those things.

A10– The Giving Tree

The story “The Giving Tree” is about a little boy that falls in love with a tree. As the boy grows older and needs more things the tree is happy to give the things the boy needs that the tree can provide until there was nothing left of the tree but a stump. In the end the boy comes back to thank the tree for all it had done to help the boy.

I am thankful for all that my parents do for me. Almost every time I need to go somewhere or nedd to get something for school they always put aside what they are doing to help me in what I need to do. That is why I think my parents are my giving tree.

A9– How to Annoy your Teacher

First talk really loud during class. Next don’t turn in your homework on time. If these don’t work try some of these: Talk about random stuff during the time when you should be working on an assignment; and say that you don’t understand what she was talking about when she was just taught the class a new subject so that she will have to re teach it. If all else fails yell his/her name from across the room and when she/he walks over to you pretend that you never called their name and start talking to another person beside you.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These methods are not meant to be used in real life! I wrote them for entertainment and to make into a blog post only.

A8– Halloween Night

On Halloween night I went over to my best friend Spencer’s house. I got there at Five-O-Clock and left at about Eleven-Thirty. We had an awesome time. When I got there we carved pumpkins and skateboarded. I was dressed up as dead Billie Joe Armstrong and Spencer was an evil jester. Next we went inside and played Spencer’s Wii.
Once it was dark enough we started trick-or-treating. We trick-or-treated in five different neighborhoods, covered about 3 miles, and got about ten pounds of candy each. When we were on the fifth neighborhood we heard the sound of a car rumbling in the darkness. When the automobile got closer we saw that it was a van with all blacked out windows and a sign on the side that said “Free Candy” on it. We picked up speed and then turned the corner. The van followed us. We were at full speed running when Spencer pulled me behind a bush. Thankfully the van rode right by us. Once it was out of sight we took a shortcut through the schoolyard.
Suddenly we heard a piercing scream behind us. I ran so fast that when we were running up the stairs I tripped and fell on top of my bag of candy but I got up and kept running anyway. Once we got safely back to Spencer’s house we played the Wii a little bit and then went into the band room and started rocking out. We were playing along to our favorite songs(I was playing the electric guitar and singing and Spencer was playing bass and singing) including Poprocks and Coke, Brain Stew, 21st Century Breakdown, and Before the Lobotomy. Going to Spencers was a blast and I hope to do it again.

A6– My Awsome Dinner

One night I had a dinner that I will never forget.  I ate spinach lasagna at Riva’s.  It was awesome!  The savory cheese melted in my mouth. The vegetables tasted so delectable, the shredded parmesan was outstanding, and the sage tasted so fresh. If you are looking for an awesome place to eat, go to Riva’s!

Rain Forests

ethanI chose not cutting down Rain Forests because if people continue to cut down Rain Forests it will be dangerous for the environment. I feel that people should stop cutting down Rain Forests because trees give out oxygen and we need oxygen to breath. This subject effects me because I am a tree lover. What I dislike about people cutting down Rain Forests is that if they keep cutting them down eventually they will all be gone.

A5– What was that sound?

One night I just couldn’t fall asleep. It was about 11:30 and I was very tired. Suddenly I heard a noise. It was the creaking of someone walking on the hardwood floors. Sweat started to form on my forehead. I was really scared. I slowly crept out of my bed. My hands were shaking as I opened my bedroom door. I peeked outside. Nothing. I crept into my parents room to see that my my dad was gone. I snuck towards the front door. “Ethan?”, my dads voice said. I was startled, but fhew, it was good to hear his voice(at least it was better than hearing something unhuman!). “What are you doing down here dad?”, I asked. “I was just taking the trash out, now go to bed.” I walked back to my bedroom relieved that it had only been my dad taking out the trash.

A4– What was that smell?

One morning I woke up not expecting to smell the aroma of cinnamon rolls.  The bread smelled like it had been freshly baked that same morning.   The cinnamon scent was so strong I could almost taste it, and the sugar was so inviting that I ran downstairs to eat breakfast.

A3–My Water Cycle Journey

Last Thursday we went outside and did a fun activity about the water cycle. Mrs.B set up chairs with signs on them that said the different places that water goes. At each chair there was a die that had different words on every side that determined where we would go to next. This is how my story goes:

First I was drank and excreted by a deer. Next I was evaporated into a cloud and stayed there as a dust particle for two years, and then was rained out into the ocean. I stayed in the ocean for eight, repeated the water cycle for two million more years and here I am still repeating it today.

A2– Football vs. Soccer

Football is way better than soccer. First off you can use any part of your body. In soccer you can only use your feet, knees, chest, and head. In football you can use any part of your body and the play still counts. Another thing is that there is way more action. In football all of the players can knock the living live out of each other and there will be no penalty on the play. A lot of the NFL players are very athletic and are good competition for each other which makes an exiting game. And that is why football is better than soccer.

A1– Hopes and Dreams

Hopes and Dreams

Two years ago the school year was great! I had Mrs.Gunning as a teacher. We went on a bunch of fieldtrips. One of my favorites was when we went to Old – Salem. My Hopes and dreams for the future are to get good grades and go on a lot of fieldtrips. I also want to make new friends and learn new things.

I have always had great friends starting in Kindergarten. Jawaun and I met in Kindergarten and are still best friends. Danny and I met in 1st grade and are also still best friends. All three of us sleep over at each others houses and have loads of fun playing together. My hopes and dreams for friends are that I make new friends and stay friends with Danny and Jawuan.

My personal goals in the past were to be nice to my little sister, get a touchdown in one of my football games, and to pass my 3rd and 4th grade EOG’s. I was nice to my little sister and I did pass the 3rd and 4th grade EOG’s so I did meet my personal goals. My personal goals for the future are to pass the 5th grade EOG’s, play on a baseball team, make new friends, and to treat others the way I want to be treated.
